Deserts and Rivers explores Country through the eyes of Aboriginal artists from the Great Sandy, Little Sandy and Gibson deserts and the Country around Turkey Creek, Sturt Creek and the Fitzroy River in the east and central Kimberley.

Featuring affordable small and medium-sized works by Kayili, Mangkaja, Martumili and Yarliyil artists, from Tjanpi Desert Weavers and Yulparija artists at Short Street Gallery, the show aims to promote opportunities for Indigenous economic development through cultural and artistic expression.

In mapping a vast region of Western Australia's northern landscape, Deserts and Rivers showcases a range of culturally and stylistically diverse works, which reflect the deep interconnections between Aboriginal cultural groups across a broad area.

Deserts and Rivers opens at 6.00pm on Friday 2nd November 2012 and runs until Friday 25th January 2013.
